WESTRON MAPP Gas Physical Properties MAPP gas is also used in incineration with air for brazing and soldering, where it has a slight advantage over competing for propane fuel because of its higher combustion temperature of 2,020 °C (3,670 °F) in air. WESTRON MAPP Gas is colorless in both liquid and gas form. The gas has a noticeable acetylene-like or fishy odor at concentrations above 100 ppm, due to the addition of substituted amines as a polymerization inhibitor. Low molecular weight alkynes have strong odors. MAPP gas is toxic if inhaled at high concentrations.

Hey this is a great little torch and it really works well, the integrated spark device is great so you don’t have to carry a lighter or a sparking tool. Great way to start fires quickly for your wood burning stove or if you are burning trash outside or whatever. The only reason I’m giving it four stars is that the little housing that encompasses the sparking device seems to be made of chromed plastic. It was hard to tell from the illustration whether it was made of metal. Since it’s made of plastic, I’m not sure how long it will last, but so far so good and it is sparking right along. Thanks.

Machinery’s Handbook –
…….operating the button for the piezo ignitor requires two hands. Also tricky to operate the control knob without using the second hand. I finally mastered that, but I doubt I’ll use this torch again. Ordered a Bernzomatic FirePoint Creator Tool, which I wish had seen first.

With the control valve located near the torch makes it handy. The flame can be regulated with the regulater valve located at the fuel tank but that reduces pressure, the valve at the handle regulates volume of gas. Seems to be well built and lights with a single press of the igniter.

Be careful and use with caution it will throw a flame and has got some power behind it . Works real good and easy to use too .
